Thanks to all of you who made 2009 show a great success.  It was a fabulous day!  Lots of quilts and great demos.  Nice showing of quilts from individuals.  Special thanks to the Queen Bee Quilt Guild, Southern Samplers Quilt Guild and Stitches of Hope Quilt Guild for participating as guilds.

For those of you who got Sheryl's handout, she inadvertently left off her own blog.  Here it is, along with a corrected copy of the handout.  Just click on the button below.

Our next quilt expo will be in 2011.  We are going to have it every other year on odd years.  The Pine Belt Quilters in Hattiesburg, Mississippi will have there show every other year on even years.  So there will be a fine show every year for you to attend.  Plus we can go to theirs and they can come to ours!

Below is info from the 2009 show.  Just to give you an idea of what to expect in future shows.  See you in 2011.

This is our 8th show in nine years.  We display over 200 quilts on the store fronts and balconies in charming, downtown Ponchatoula, Louisiana.  If you love traditional patterns; are partial to art quilts; can't get enough of eye popping colors....This is the place for you to be!

There will be a Fat Quarter Stroll (sponsored this year by Bright Hopes), a raffle quilt, Viewer’s Choice award, and afternoon children’s activities by the alligator cage.  Guilds who show their quilts as a group can be eligible for our Treasure Chest worth over $500.  Contact Danette Mollere for details.

We will have some contemporary quilts hand quilted by the Ohio Amish for display and for sale.  A whole cloth wedding quilt is on its way.  I hear that it is fabulous.

The Community Center (300 N. 5th St.) will feature the Hoffman challenge quilts, a Merchants Mall, a doll exhibit and a special exhibit by quiltmaker & artist Rhoda Jordan.  Come by and see quilters demonstrate hand quilting, applique, and new techniques.  Demos by Mama's Quilt Shop, Bright Hopes Quilt Shop, Sheryl Till, Myrlene Pertuit and Pat Zieske.

Pat Zieske will be also be on hand to give oral quilt appraisals.  One of the demos is a technique used by the Kuna Indians from the San Blas Islands called Molas.  Learn about the people, their culture and see the technique.  Want to know more about internet quilting?  Sheryl Till will present a colorful lecture about a virtual world filled with opportunities for quilters.  She will share tips and stories about quilters on the internet as well as show quilts and blocks from internet swaps and activities.  See the schedule below for the time of each demo.

One of our featured quilt guilds this year is the Southern Samplers quilt guild.  All other guilds and individual quiltmakers are invited to display their quilts too.  Click on the Quilt Entry form to register.  All quilts displayed outdoors will be eligible for the Viewer's Choice Award.  Free parking and handicap accessible.
